Episode #11

Join the Blue Light Leavers Private Facebook Group here!  If you've listened to the incredible podcast episode 7 with former Police Officer and PTSD survivor Helen Barnett, you'll know the huge impact my guests on this episode had on her and many others.  Owned and created by Louise Goldsmith, a Detective from Avon & Somerset Police and her husband Nick, a former Royal Marine Commando who suffered complex PTSD after his 4th Tour in Afghanistan, Hidden Valley Bushcraft and their Woodland Warrior Programme are doing amazing things by helping our Armed Forces & Emergency Service community to 'Recuperate, Recalibrate and Re-engage.'  During this interview, Louise and Nick talk about how they came to own 2 acres of ancient woodland, touching on Nick's own journey with PTSD, the incredible support The Royal Marine's Charity gave them and how creating Hidden Valley Bushcraft saved Nick.  They go on to talk about The Woodland Warrior Programme, which provides therapeutic activities for armed forces personnel, veterans and members of the emergency services. Set within a woodland environment, activities are centred around bushcraft and the natural world. Designed to be therapeutic, adaptive and inclusive for all who attend, its aim is to help participants relax, learn new skills, build self reliance and esteem, strengthen social bonding and move forward into the next stage of their lives. Examples of activities include foraging, tracking, making fire and shelters, archery, wild cooking, natural history, woodland management, woodcrafts and wilderness living skills.   Louise and Nick go on to explain how inclusive the programme is and how it can be accessed via this link: Woodland Warrior Programme  I donated and I urge you to do the same to help support Louise and Nick and the incredible work they're doing.  You can contact them via this email address: [email protected]  Don't forget you can join the Private Facebook group at : www.facebook.com/groups/bluelightleavers  You can also access my free guide to optimising LinkedIn for Emergency Service Professionals via: https://www.bluelightleavers.com/pl/95723 If you like what you've heard, please subscribe, hit 5* and leave a review and share and come and join us in our Private Facebook Group. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/bluelightleavers/message
